Water Repellent by Nature
>> Jumat, 10 Februari 2017
Kapuk fibers are water-repellent due to the natural wax coating. Mother
Nature coated Kapuk fibers with a thin layer of wax thus making it
hydrophobic – it almost does not absorb water. In addition, the large,
air-filled lumen ensures that the kapuk fibers have a low density and
good buoyancy. Even after extended immersion in water, buoyancy declines
only slightly. Since Kapuk hairs are not wettable and incredibly
buoyant are thus used for filling life jackets and life belts.
Lightweight, hydrophobic, incredibly buoyant – one simple Kapuk fiber is
full of many amazing active properties! A jewel made in the Land of
Kapuk.
